Event to feature Senior White House Adviser for Education Jason Botel

WHAT:

Hundreds of PTA leaders and advocates from across the country will come together Wednesday, March 8 and Thursday, March 9 in Arlington, Va., for the 2017 National PTA Legislative Conference. During the conference—themed, “Celebrating 120 Years of Changing Children’s Lives”—attendees will celebrate historic milestones and honor PTA members and policymakers whose efforts have made a difference for the education, health and well-being of every child. They will also hear from speakers and will participate in workshops on issues facing the new administration and Congress. Additionally, they will get an in-depth look at National PTA’s 2017 public policy priorities and will actively advocate for key issues impacting children, families and schools through meetings with congressional leaders on Capitol Hill.

Jason Botel will be the event’s keynote speaker. Botel serves as senior White House adviser for education. In addition to Botel, attendees will hear from Superior Court Judge Verda Colvin and Kimberly Hefling, senior education writer for POLITICO, and will be treated to a special performance by Epic Theatre Ensemble.

National PTA will recognize Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) and Congressman Bobby Scott (D-VA) during the conference with its 2017 Congressional Voice for Children Award. The association will also honor the recipients of its 2017 Outstanding Advocacy Awards.
