PTA Family Reading Experience, Powered by Kindle

PTA Family Reading Experience, Powered by Kindle

The PTA Family Reading Experience, Powered by Kindle is a program that engages the entire family and focuses on improving the reading skills of children between kindergarten and fifth grade. The program teaches families simple games and activities they can do with their children at home and when parents engage with their children at home, children do better in school.

Research shows that when families read together, learning happens and memories are made that last a lifetime. That is why National PTA and Amazon created the PTA Family Reading Experience, to inspire families to keep learning alive by reading great books together.

For inspiration, view our results from the Family Reading Challenge. Also, Amazon and National PTA are pleased to award a classroom of Kindles to 50 PTAs. View this press release and interactive map spotlighting our recipients.

Use the toolkits below to guide your Family Reading Experience at home and at school.

Inspire Family Reading at Home

These activities reinforce the core skills of literacy—phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension and vocabulary—and focus on improving reading skills between kindergarten and fifth grade. Use event activities.

When families read together, the children develop strong reading skills and perform better in school. Families can use the activities below to continue to support their child’s learning outside of school.
