Candidate Narrative

As I reflect on my service to National PTA and the broader community, I remain deeply committed to advancing our mission of empowering families, advocating for equitable education, and building a diverse and inclusive association.

Over the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a board member, contributing to key initiatives that impact our membership and the communities we serve. As a finance professional, I’ve utilized my expertise in managing large investment portfolios to guide fiscal decisions with an eye toward long-term sustainability for National PTA. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made, but there’s more work to be done.

My experience, whether in my current role as Secretary for NCPTA or  in my prior role as a district council president, overseeing 44 local units and 34,000 students, has underscored the importance of embracing our values and ensuring that PTA reflects the diverse nature of today’s families. I’ve worked tirelessly to make PTA more accessible and relevant for those who may not yet see its value. This work, grounded in my deep commitment to equity, continues through my work on the Family Engagement Committee and Finance Committee at the national level.

Beyond PTA, my community work—spanning from Durham County to state commissions—has given me a rich understanding of the challenges families face. I’ve seen firsthand how transformative family engagement can change outcomes for children, and I am dedicated to bringing these insights to my work on the National PTA Board.

With your support, I will continue to represent all families, ensuring that every voice is heard, every family is empowered, and every child receives the education they deserve. I humbly ask for the opportunity to continue serving and making a lasting impact on our association. Thank you.
