Candidate Narrative

PTA unites individuals from diverse backgrounds with a shared goal: advocating for children and strengthening school communities. As the only association dedicated solely to children’s advocacy, PTA fosters collaboration among parents, teachers, administrators, and community leaders to provide valuable programs that enhance student success and well-being. These initiatives—ranging from academic enrichment to mental health support—create a lasting impact beyond students, benefiting families and educators alike.

PTA also builds strong relationships, connecting families, schools, and communities. It offers opportunities for involvement, from volunteering at events to participating in advocacy efforts, ensuring that all voices contribute to improving education. Through PTA, parents stay engaged in their children's learning, fostering a sense of shared responsibility.

My PTA journey began as a Hospitality Chair and evolved into leadership roles at the local, state, and national levels. Serving in nearly every capacity across all school levels, I’ve learned that while students' needs change, PTA’s mission remains constant: advocating for every child’s success. My experience on the National PTA Board and Field Service Committee has allowed me to collaborate with leaders nationwide, helping strengthen PTAs across diverse communities.

Beyond field service, my governance expertise—honed through leadership roles in Texas PTA and other organizations—has given me a deep understanding of structuring organizations for success. Strong governance ensures leaders can focus on serving children and families effectively.

PTA has been a personal and professional constant, providing support during life’s challenges. Leading Texas PTA through the pandemic taught me the importance of adaptability, collaboration, and making tough decisions. My advocacy spans local, state, and national levels, focusing on issues like school funding, mental health, and safety. I remain committed to PTA’s mission, believing in the power of relationships, teamwork, and strategic leadership to create lasting change for students, schools, and communities.
