Candidate Narrative
I started to serve with PTA because I wanted to be involved in my daughter’s classroom. I continued to serve in PTA to help ALL the children in the school. Today, I serve in PTA to mentor PTA leaders, equipping them with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in their roles.
Since I finished my term as the Utah PTA President three years ago, I have served as a council president, working in the trenches with local PTA presidents, providing training, answering questions, sharing resources and offering encouragement. I have a personal view of what is happening at the local level. I serve as the chair of the Utah PTA Leadership Academy, building a curriculum with a great team of instructors who bring PTA knowledge, leadership, family engagement, advocacy, outreach, diversity, and communication to local PTA leaders. It has enhanced the leadership pipeline for state board service. As a member of the National PTA Field Service committee, I support, mentor, and bring resources to state PTA presidents and their boards.
I would like to continue to serve you as a member of the National PTA Board of Directors and help implement the new strategic plan. I approach my work as a board member seriously, coming prepared to every board meeting, ready to represent you.
Every state and congress is important and needs a voice. I will listen and encourage feedback to understand the needs of each congress and search for innovative solutions to help PTA continue to grow and be relevant. As a parent of five and grandparent of three, I understand the critical importance of a vital National PTA. I am dedicated to ensuring every child’s potential becomes a reality, and I ask for your support as we work together to advance the PTA mission.
