Candidate Narrative
I am honored to be considered for the National PTA Nominating and Leadership Recruitment Committee (NLRC). My journey with PTA began like many of us - as an enthusiastic parent advocate, striving to create a better future for my children. Over the years, my involvement has expanded from local PTA leadership to State and National roles, enabling me to advocate for meaningful education policy changes while fostering leadership development and growth.
As Vice President of NYS PTA and a member of the National PTA Legislative Committee, I have worked to support and foster leadership in inclusive environments and championing equity in education. My experience serving on the NYS Education Department’s Blue Ribbon Commission and the City of Yonkers Joint School Construction Board has given me valuable insight into policy development, school infrastructure, and community engagement.
Beyond advocacy, my professional career as a Chief Information Officer and security architect has equipped me with strategic leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and a global perspective. As we face challenging times and unknowns ahead, these skills will support our work and mission in PTA, our efforts to develop scalable leadership, mentorship, and sustainable membership for inclusive governance structures.
As a military veteran, I understand the power of service, teamwork, and perseverance. These values drive my commitment to identifying and empowering our next generation of PTA leaders. If selected for the NLRC, I will work to ensure that PTA leadership reflects the diverse communities we serve, supporting a strong, inclusive future for our association.
I would be honored to bring my experience, passion, and dedication to this role, ensuring that PTA continues to be a driving force in advocacy, leadership, and equity for all children and families.
Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to the opportunity to serve.
