Candidate Narrative

I would like to bring the experience and expertise that I have gained in Maryland, Kansas, New Jersey, New York, Texas and Virginia from working with schools to the National PTA. I am creative; possess excellent communication skills; have a keen interest in developing schools of the future; have experience with technology in the workplace and in schools; a team player and team builder; have a commitment to life-long learning; and always manage to maintain my sense of humor.  I am an accessible, visible communicator who is able to establish strong accountability measures.

My present and past experiences in public education have afforded me some excellent opportunities that have resulted in improved student achievement at all levels.  I am known to be a risk-taker with boundless energy and enthusiasm.  I am known to be committed to the schools for which I am responsible and I have always been a good listener.  What draws me to the position of serving on the National Board of Directors is the difference I know I could make committing myself to the families that National represents, enabling me to help provide the personal attention that the students, parents, and staff deserve as I serve the nation’s diverse clientele.  I want to make sure parents, teachers and students continue to be seen as a vital part of the community and are seen as a critical part in the success of our schools.

I am a charismatic leader that leads by example and has a vision for all students to succeed.  I believe in academic rigor and promote achievement as my number one goal.  I am a creative leader that has learned how to build a collaborative team that focuses on excellence.  Students need a program that focuses on rigor, relevance and relationships at all levels.
