Candidate Narrative

In all things my faith, family and service to others are guiding principles. It has been my experience that faith in God and my fellow man, dedication to my family and service to a cause greater than me have proved beneficial in my personal and professional growth, and as a servant leader.

The opportunity to continue to serve as an elected Member Representative to the National PTA Board of Directors is one that I embrace with the goal of furthering the mission, vision, and strategic goals of National PTA; which is a continuation of many years of service to PTA: as chair of the Nominating and Leadership Recruitment Committee (NLRC), member of National PTA’s Bylaws Committee, president of Miami-Dade County Council, and various elected and appointed roles within the governance structures of Florida PTA, Georgia PTA, Alabama PTA and North Carolina PTA. I venture to serve as a unifying voice and will work to always be transparent, and strengthen congresses while respecting their autonomy.

Aside from PTA, I have been fortunate to serve various other national and community-based organizations to include the American Red Cross, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Blue Ridge Institute, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the Foundation for New Education Initiatives, and the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project.

Professionally, I have served in leadership roles where I was responsible for recruiting, training, retaining, promoting and managing individuals, as well as fiscal management and executive leadership. My experiences have afforded me opportunities to develop and hone my skillset as a team builder, and personnel manager ultimately responsible for all aspects of leadership development, capacity building and goal setting. I look forward to bringing this broad range of skills to National PTA as a returning Member Representative to the National Board of Directors.
