Who Can Vote

If you wish to vote during 2024 National PTA Virtual Convention and are not a member of National PTA governance, that is already part of the voting body per National PTA Bylaws, you will need to be selected as a state PTA delegate. You must register (including complete payment) for Virtual Convention by 11:59 p.m. PDT June 4, 2024, for your name to be part of the delegate selection process.

Contact your state PTA to learn about the process to become a state delegate. All registrants are urged to add Credentials@PTA.org to your safe-sender list to make sure you will receive the email from Credentials@PTA.org on June 5.

Credentialed voters will need to be virtually present in the meeting in order to vote. All credentialed voters will receive an email the morning of June 27 with their Zoom log-in information to participate in live debate and voting. Convention attendees who are not members of the voting body will be able to view the General Meeting in the Convention portal but will not be able to participate in debate and voting.

All members of the voting body are encouraged to join National PTA leadership June 18 at 7 p.m. EDT for a session on how the live debate and voting will occur during our virtual convention. Register now.

Members of the voting body must pre-file amendments to proposed business by completing this motion form and emailing it to Amendments@PTA.org by 5 p.m. EDT, Tuesday, June 25. No motions will be accepted after 5 p.m. EDT June 25.

Bylaws

Bylaws govern an organization’s operations and contain the basic rules relating principally to itself as an association.

The National PTA Bylaws outline the basic purpose of PTA, list basic policies of National PTA and provide a structure for how the PTA is set up. The bylaws also provide information on National PTA committee structure, the annual convention and amendment process. You can learn more about the National PTA Bylaws at PTA.org/Bylaws.

Please carefully review each of the proposed bylaws amendments listed below. In your review, please refer to the current National PTA Bylaws which were adopted June 2023:

A video outlining the proposed bylaws amendments is available to view below.

Resolutions

National PTA resolutions are official documents outlining the opinion, will or intent of the association to address national problems, situations or concerns that affect children and require national action to seek resolution. You can learn more about National PTA Resolutions at PTA.org/Resolutions.

Please review each of the proposed resolutions, resolutions amendments and resolution to rescind listed below. A video outlining the proposed resolutions, resolutions amendments and the resolution to rescind is available to view below.
