Where is the host hotel?

Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center
201 Waterfront St.
National Harbor, MD 20745
Phone: (301) 965-4000

Who should attend convention?

We encourage PTA members, non-members, education professionals, community leaders and others interested in the education and well-being of children to register. A considerable number of the nation's most influential educational leaders, parents and experts are expected to be at convention.

What can I expect during my convention experience?

At the 125th Anniversary Convention, you will:

  • Hear from engaging keynote speakers
  • Advocate for our public policy priorities during your Hill Day Experience
  • Celebrate PTA’s history, legacy, achievements and future
  • Participate in interactive workshop sessions focused on advocacy, leadership and how to PTA
  • Visit the Experience Hall for a central place to meet, learn and make connections

What is the Hill Day Experience?

In honor of our association’s 125th anniversary and our legacy of child advocacy, we have reimagined our annual Legislative Conference (LegCon) to be part of the 125th Anniversary Convention. The convention’s Hill Day Experience (June 14-15) will prepare and energize you for a critical day of lobbying in meetings with your Members of Congress. Tuesday, June 14 will include a welcome reception, state breakouts and trainings on our legislative “ask.” Wednesday, June 15 will include a policy breakfast before we take it to the Hill for our meetings. Materials, talking points and other meeting assistance will be provided.

What is the Virtual Education Experience?

Virtual Education Experience will be available, starting June 14 and will feature six blocks of pre-recorded workshops that participants will register for separately. Featured topics include advocacy, running your PTA, membership development and more. Participants of these sessions will be able to stream the workshops with a live chat box discussion during the scheduled launch time. Select sessions during the week of convention will also be streamed live. Content will be available on-demand following the Virtual Education Experience for 90 days. Please note, registrants for the Virtual Education Experience will not have access to the in-person convention events. However, if you register for the in-person convention, you will have on-demand access to the Virtual Education Experience until September 16, 2022.

What dates should I book my travel to ensure that I will not miss any of the convention?

To experience it all, register for convention to gain access to the Virtual Education Experience content June 14, and if you intend to participate in the Hill Day Experience, plan to arrive Tuesday, June 14, in time for the kickoff Hill Day Experience welcome reception that evening. Otherwise, plan to arrive in time for the first activity at 3:30 p.m. EDT, Thursday, June 16 and depart after the conclusion of the convention at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, June 19. View the Schedule of Events here.

Will I be able to attend the convention virtually?

No. The 125th Anniversary Convention is an in-person event. However, accessibility is important to us at National PTA, and therefore we are pleased to offer some of our key educational content in a virtual format. This content—which we have named the Virtual Education Experience—features pre-recorded sessions that participants register for separately. Registrants for the Virtual Education Experience will not have access to the in-person convention events. However, if you register for the in-person convention, you will have on-demand access to the Virtual Education Experience until September 16, 2022.

Are there any COVID-19 requirements and/or protocols in-person attendees must comply with?

All registered participants, attendees, vendors and guests of the in-person National PTA 125th Anniversary Convention (Convention) in National Harbor, Md., are required to be “Up to Date” in their vaccinations against COVID-19* unless they are eligible for an exemption.**  This policy is for the safety and welfare of our attendees and based on guidance and recommendations issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other public health authorities and applies to all events and meetings from June 13-19, 2022.

All attendees (registrants, presenters, guests, sponsors, staff and vendors) will be required to provide proof that they are “Up to Date” in their vaccinations against COVID-19*. National PTA will be providing directions to attendees on how to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination status closer to the start of Convention. Attendees will not be able to check-in and receive their badge without having submitted proof of their vaccination status as directed by National PTA prior to arrival at the event.

National PTA will communicate safety protocols prior to the Convention, e.g., masking, social distancing, etc. All participants must follow safety protocols and directives at all events and meetings. Further, all attendees will also be required to submit a Safety Information and Waiver Form which will be provided along with information on how to submit proof of vaccination status.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support of our efforts to create a safe experience for everyone.

*Up to date means a person has received all recommended COVID-19 vaccines, including any booster dose(s) when eligible. Please see the CDC website for additional information.

**To request an exemption from the COVID-19 vaccination requirement due to a health circumstance or sincerely held religious belief, please contact to request the required form that will need to be completed. Individuals granted an exemption must provide proof electronically that they have tested negative for COVID-19 via a PCR COVID-19 test (verified by a healthcare provider) no more than 48 hours prior to arrival at the Gaylord.  Attendees will be responsible for arranging and paying for any such tests.

We suggest that you attend the Convention Orientation, which will take place online during the week of Convention.

Will there be daycare offered at convention?

No. PTA does not provide daycare services at convention. Please contact the hotel to inquire about babysitting and children’s program services.

What happens at the general meetings?

General meetings are where delegates help National PTA conduct the business of the association. There will be five general meetings held during the convention week. All convention delegates attend these general meetings to vote on national resolutions, bylaws and election of the association’s officers, and board members. Special guest speakers, national announcements and award presentations also make these sessions memorable.

Voting Credentials Questions

Will I be able to vote?

All voting at the 125th Anniversary Convention will be during the in-person Convention. Registrants attending only the Virtual Education Experience are not eligible to be credentialed and to vote.

If you are not a member of National PTA Governance as defined in the National PTA Bylaws Article XII, in order to be eligible to vote during convention business and elections, a state PTA must select you as a voting delegate. You must fully complete your registration (including full payment) by midnight Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), May 31, 2022, to be considered for voting status. If you have questions about becoming a voting delegate, contact your state PTA. You will be notified on or about June 10, if you have been selected by a state PTA as a voting delegate. Only in-person attendees of the 125th Anniversary Convention can be credentialed and will be eligible to vote.

What is a delegate?

While anyone can attend and enjoy the National PTA 125th Anniversary Convention, only PTA members forming the voting body are able to vote during meetings and elections. National PTA Bylaws define the voting body as members of National PTA governance and representatives, referred to as delegates, selected by state PTAs. The potential number of delegates named by each state PTA is based on state PTA membership. If you have questions about becoming a delegate, please contact a state PTA office.

How do I get my voting credential card?

National PTA does not use credential cards. If you are part of the voting body, you will receive a voter’s badge and voting instruments when you check-in at convention.

I joined PTA as a National Supporting Member. Can I receive voting credentials?

In accordance with National PTA Bylaws, National Supporting Members may not be credentialed. If you would like the opportunity to be selected as a delegate, join a local or state PTA and seek voting delegate status from a state PTA.

Convention COVID Protocols

The required use of masks is determined by CDC guidelines, which are linked to County-specific indicators. Currently, the Gaylord Hotel and Prince George’s County, where the Gaylord National Harbor is located, do not require masks indoors. Prince George’s County does, however, encourage the use of masks indoors. Consequently, masks are optional for all attendees. Masks will be available at registration if you request one. Attendees are encouraged to respect individual decision making with regard to masking.

As of June 1, 2022, the community levels in Prince George’s County, MD are rated “medium” according to the CDC web site (based on a low, medium, and high rating). More information on the CDC’s prevention guidelines, including the county level indicators, can be found on the CDC web site.

Social Distancing

Where possible, National PTA will provide extra seating if guests would prefer additional room to social distance in the General Meeting Room. Social distancing may not be possible in workshop meeting rooms and some events due to space constraints. Social distancing stickers will be available at registration if attendees would like to indicate that they prefer more distance when interacting.

Hand-sanitizer and Wipes

Hand-sanitizer and disinfectant wipes will be available at registration and other meeting locations.

COIVD Rapid Tests

A limited number of COVID antigen self-tests will be available on-site if an attendee is experiencing symptoms and would like to request a test. Please email or call or text (612) 429-8594 to request a self-test kit and one will be delivered to your room.
