Candidate Narrative

Lisa Annette Mack

Candidate for Board Member

As State President, I focused on family engagement, advocacy, and the relevancy of PTA.  I see these as key issues on the national forefront as well.

My current work for a youth development non-profit has me serving in three of the most impoverished neighborhoods of my city.  I have experienced firsthand how the families feel forgotten, disrespected, and as though they don’t matter.  I’ve discovered that it takes effort on my part to learn from them, understand their stories, and gain their trust.  I recognize to a greater extent that my advocacy and the work of PTA are critically needed.  I see how this pandemic has gravely affected these families through the lack of resources, digital divide, and fear for survival. Being a resource for families and communities is more crucial now than ever for National PTA, especially with the disparities that this pandemic has exposed and highlighted.

PTA must fully understand the needs and challenges of families and communities and include them in our PTA fabric by providing tools, support, and our PTA voice, to be meaningfully engaged and relevant.

I have had the joy and privilege of serving on the National PTA level as a Board Member Representative and on several committees.  I believe that my PTA experience and proven track record of success in Corporate America, in the non-profit sector, and with small business ownership, along with my extensive background with leadership of volunteer organizations in the community, faith-based, and civic fields will continue to offer a strength and well-rounded dimension to National PTA.

I would love to continue to bring my passion, talents, and experience to National PTA by once again serving on the Board of Directors.
