Candidate Narrative

Donald Dunn

Our next President-elected needs to have practical organizational experience and knowledge. Also, demonstrate the skills and talents to lead teams and present our story and pivotal topics. Need to focus on our mission and membership. Forging long-term relationships to advance our mission. Have shown abilities to engage families, schools, and communities to aid children in achieving their dreams. Being prepared for our rapidly evolving current/ future environment. Willing to make complex decisions. Leveraging our history to reaffirm our roles as the leading nation children/families and schools advocates.

My college’s motto is “Enter to Learn and Depart to Serve.”  I have merged my passions to service others and professional careers to improve education, community development and individual/family engagement for the past 40 plus years. I have years of volunteering/leading numerous non-profits. I have been a proven leader on current topics and have presented them to elected officials and community members. I have been committed to the PTA for over 25 years. I have held various leadership roles and responsibilities. These opportunities include school and council President, Reflections County Chairperson, Federal Legislative Chair, state male /minority membership recruit officer, State President, National Board of Director (2 terms)/committee memberships. I am the immediate past National Secretary-Treasurer. Initiated former Officers giving campaign. Endowment Chair that funded our updated National Standards for Family-School Partnerships. Two experiences that standout: hosting the National Convention (Charlotte) and PTA representative on the Lifetouch Memory Mission trip. I have my graduate school degree in Non-profit Executive Management.

My career background includes banking and pharmaceutical sales/brand management. I have led highly successful teams and oversaw million-dollar budgets. For the past 30 years, our family has owned and operated two early child development centers. The centers have provided enriching learning for hundreds of children.
