Candidate Narrative

Cynthia Starke-Jones

Candidate for Board Member

Cynthia Starke-Jones, currently serves as the Education Specialist of Georgia PTA and Co-President of South Cobb Council PTA.

 Professionally, she is a Special Education Teacher in Cobb County Public School District in Georgia. As a Special Education Teacher, Ms. Starke-Jones provides general education staff special education strategies to implement in the classroom, provide special education services in accordance with students' individualized education plans ("IEP"), write and implement student IEP, conduct assessments needed for special education eligibility and monitor and report progress toward IEP goals and objectives. 

Ms. Starke-Jones obtained her Education Specialist (Ed. S.) in Curriculum Instruction and her Master of Arts (M. Ed.) in Special Education.  Ms. Starke-Jones is a proud Georgia State University Panther, where she earned her Bachelor of Science. 

Ms. Starke-Jones previously served as South Cobb Council PTA Vice President in Cobb County Georgia, where she was responsible for assisting in managing and supporting twenty-six local PTAs.  She has also served as Treasurer on South Cobb Council PTA, where she was responsible for overseeing the Council’s finances, training, and audits.  On Council and Local PTAs, Ms. Starke-Jones has served as Chair of several Standing Committees and Special Committees.

 Ms. Starke-Jones passion for volunteerism extends far beyond PTA.  Currently, she is an active member of the National Education Association, Georgia Association of Educators, National Association of Special Education Teachers, and National Society of Leadership and Success. Moreover, she also is an active member and volunteer of the Atlanta Track Club.   

Because of Ms. Starke-Jones' high energy, zest for knowledge and enthusiasm she was also selected to serve as a Superbowl LIII, LIV, and LV Ambassador.  She has also served as a volunteer for the Chick-fil-a Peach Bowl. 

Ms. Starke-Jones is a proud mother of two adult children and grandmother of two grandchildren.
