Candidate Narrative

Charles Scott

I am humbled to have been slated to serve as your National PTA Vice President of Membership. Like so many of you, I joined PTA because of my belief in its mission, vision and Future! I live by the slogan “Volunteers don’t necessary have the time, but they have the heart”. I have both the heart and the desire to represent you as the Vice President of Membership. My Why is my belief in you, our members, our leaders, and what PTA does all our Children.

I have served in many capacities at the local, council, state and national levels of PTA. At National,  I have serve on two NPTA Strategic Planning Committees, was elected by the members to the Nominating and Leadership Development Committee (NLDC), and elected twice to the Board of Directors. I also had the honor of attending the very first EML (Emerging Minority Leaders) Conference, and the first NPTA TCBI (Training Capacity Building Initiative) I & II training classes.

Tomorrow’s PTA face many challenges. If elected these three items will be at the top of my priority list.

  • Ensure we always stay customer (membership) focused in every decision we make.
  • Stay on top of the very changing educational landscape and how it impacts our members.
  • Recognize our members and leaders for their service and empower you in shaping our future.
My vision is to ensure the Future of PTA is determined by our members, and that every member knows that membership is ownership, being a stockholder for our Children. Remember You Belong in PTA. You are PTA. If entrusted with your vote, I commit to: To listen, to be respectful yet resolved; considerate, yet courageous; a team player, yet willing to go it alone; and to always keep you, our members in mind.
