ALEXANDRIA, Va., (Jan. 19, 2022)—Today, National PTA awarded $80,000 to 80 local PTAs. PTA Proud National Sponsors Bayer Fund, Mathnasium and Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids made this funding possible.

“National PTA is proud to begin the new year with educational programs and financial assistance to support our students and their PTAs,” said Anna King, president of National PTA. “We hope this funding will increase family engagement and empower students to learn about the careers and opportunities in the healthcare and STEM fields.”

Each school year, National PTA offers grants in STEM, literacy, digital citizenship, mental health and the arts. The 2022 National PTA program grant recipients include:

  • 36 local PTAs selected to receive $1,000 each. Sponsored by Bayer Fund, a philanthropic arm of Bayer, the grant will provide opportunities for families to participate in hands-on and virtual science activities and be inspired to pursue careers in STEM through National PTA’s STEM + Families Science Festival initiative.
  • 35 local PTAs awarded $1,000 each to co-host a STEM + Families Math Night, in collaboration with Mathnasium, to engage families in fun math games to help reduce math intimidation and promote math as a foundation of STEM learning.
  • 9 local PTAs/PTSAs—who serve sixth to 12th-grade students and their families—awarded $1,000 each. Sponsored by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids the grant will help educate students and families, and promote Tobacco Use Prevention. Youth e-cigarette use remains a serious public health problem in the U.S., with over 2 million middle and high school students using e-cigarettes in 2021.

"We are thankful for the ongoing support of our Proud National Sponsors, including Bayer Fund, Mathnasium and Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids,” said Nathan R. Monell, CAE, National PTA executive director. “Through this funding, PTAs will be able to provide engaging STEM and Healthy Lifestyles activities and resources that support student success and improve the health and safety of our communities.”
