ALEXANDRIA, Va., (Feb. 20, 2015)—In support of the U.S. Army’s continued commitment to education, the U.S. Army Marketing and Research Group (AMRG) and National PTA entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), formalizing the collaboration between the two organizations and their shared dedication to the education and development of our nation’s youth.
The MOU provides a framework for ongoing collaboration in support of the nation’s parents, school administrators and educators. Together, the Army and National PTA will work to improve the educational experiences of high school students as they prepare for college, career, military service and citizenship readiness.
“National PTA makes it their mission to support and shape the future of our nation’s youth,” said Mark S. Davis, deputy assistant secretary of the Army for marketing. “Like the U.S. Army, National PTA has a strong legacy, and we are fortunate to partner with an organization that is so closely aligned with our commitment to the success, education and career-preparedness of America’s young people.”
As a member of the Army’s “Strengthening America’s Youth” (SAY) Committee, National PTA has been a steadfast education outreach partner, sharing its passion and expertise for education with Army leaders and other SAY Committee members.
The partnership with National PTA is an example of how the Army’s education outreach program builds relationships with educators, youth organizations and schools to increase opportunities for America’s youth, which include the leadership, education and career opportunities available through Army service.
“The U.S. Army and National PTA share a commitment to ensuring that every child reaches his or her full potential, both in school and in life,” said Otha Thornton, president of National PTA. “The U.S. Army has a wide variety of free educational resources that aim to improve student readiness for post-secondary education, the workforce and military service. We are pleased to collaborate with the U.S. Army to bring their resources to students and families nationwide to help them excel in their studies and beyond.”
