National PTA offering complimentary AARP membership to PTA members age 50+

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Oct. 7, 2013) — National PTA and AARP have teamed up to offer a complimentary one-year AARP membership to PTA members and loved ones age 50+. Through AARP membership, PTA members have access to important resources and substantial discounts on a wide range of products and services.

“Families, including grandparents and other relatives, play a critical role in supporting children’s achievement and making a difference for the education, health and welfare for all youth,” said Otha Thornton, National PTA President. “We are excited to team with AARP to recognize the important role those age 50+ play in the lives of millions of children across the country by offering a complimentary AARP membership to PTA members.”

  • Through the program, any PTA member who is age 50 and over and is not a member of AARP can redeem a complimentary one-time, one-year AARP membership.
  • PTA members who are already members of AARP can receive a complimentary second year of membership upon the renewal of their current AARP membership.
  • PTA members under the age of 50 can ‘gift’ a complimentary one-year AARP membership to a loved one age 50 and over.

“AARP is pleased to establish a relationship with National PTA and provide special opportunities for PTA members to enjoy the benefits of AARP membership,” said Steve Cone, AARP Executive Vice President. “With more than two million of our members having school-age children in their household, AARP shares PTA’s commitment to supporting families and educators in a manner that gives students their best opportunities to learn and grow.”
