Parent Leaders from Across the Country to Meet in Nation’s Capital to Advocate for Gun Safety and Safe and Supportive Schools

WHAT:

Hundreds of PTA leaders and advocates from across the country will come together Tuesday, March 13 through Thursday, March 15 in Arlington, Va., for the 2018 National PTA Legislative Conference. During the conference, attendees will meet with congressional leaders to advocate for bipartisan policy solutions to address gun safety and violence prevention and keep children safe. They will also participate in workshops focused on bringing their advocacy efforts and skill sets to the next level. Additionally, they will hear from speakers, including Betsy DeVos, U.S. Secretary of Education; Alissa Parker, Co-Founder of Safe and Sound Schools; and Carissa Moffat Miller, Interim Executive Director of the Council of Chief State School Officers.

National PTA will recognize Representative Mark DeSaulnier (D-CA) and Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) during the conference with its 2018 Congressional Voice for Children Award. The association will also honor the recipients of its 2018 Outstanding Advocacy Awards.
