Tracie Potts has been a passionate leader on family engagement for over 10 years and was elected to the National PTA Board of Directors in June 2019. She aims to make every child’s potential a reality by training families of all ages, races and backgrounds how to support learning, speak up for their children, work with community partners and advocate for equity.
As one of National PTA’s first Family Engagement fellows, Potts formed new partnerships with educators and helped develop a framework to transform family engagement. She served as an elementary and middle school PTA President, leading her school to become the first National PTA School of Excellence in her district.
Potts serves as a board member and officer of the Montgomery County Council of PTAs. On the state level, Tracie pioneered weekly e-blasts to boost membership. In 2017, she received the Maryland PTA Lifetime Achievement Award and Honorary Lifetime Membership.
Professionally Tracie has been an affiliate correspondent for NBC News for over 20 years. She works with her husband, a youth minister, to inspire young people, including their three children and two grandchildren. They are her motivation.
