Dr. Sylvia Ramirez Reyna, Ph.D. is a former teacher, principal and associate superintendent who was elected to the National PTA Board of Directors in June 2019. She retired as chief of school leadership in the Dallas School District after a 37-year career as an educator in four urban school districts. Reyna now serves as an assistant professor of practice at the University of Texas at Austin in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy.

Reyna was elected to the Texas PTA Board of Directors in 2014 as a director-at-large. In 2016, she was elected vice president of programs and resources for Texas PTA. She first joined PTA as a teacher in 1977, maintained membership throughout her career and served in many capacities at the local and council levels. Reyna received National and Texas PTA life memberships as an elementary school principal in the early 1990s. She currently serves on several charitable and civic boards in San Antonio. Reyna and her husband Arthur have two grown sons.
