Shaton Berry

Shaton Berry has been involved with PTA for over 20 years and currently serves as National PTA's President-Elect. Berry truly believes in the mission and purpose of PTA and wants to ensure its place as a world-class association for families.

Berry most recently served as National PTA's Secretary-Treasurer (2023–2026), where she also chaired the Finance Committee and Endowment Fund. She previously chaired the Strategic Vision Committee and was National PTA's Healthy Minds Ambassador, where she served as National PTA's spokesperson on youth mental health. Berry has also served in a variety of other national and state-level positions, most notably as chair for National PTA's Nominating and Leadership Recruitment Committee (2017–2018) and president of Michigan PTA (2011–2013). She is a certified Training Capacity Building Initiative (TCBI) trainer and grassroots advocacy trainer through National PTA.

Berry's passion stems from her personal experience with unique family structures. She does not have any biological children; she raised her two younger brothers, Anthony and Deontae. As the sister of a brother with autism, she learned early that leadership means protecting potential and challenging systems that fall short of every child's needs.

Professionally, Berry is a public servant who has worked for the federal government for over 20 years. Berry also serves as the chief operating officer of Purposeful YOUth Detroit, a non-profit organization that focuses on the empowerment and mentoring of girls ages 6–18.
