In 2023, after over 17 years of PTA service, Rachel Burke was honored to be elected to serve on the National PTA Board of Directors. She has served PTA in all positions, and after over a decade on the board, was Indiana PTA president from 2021-23. Burke is an active community volunteer and mentor serving on many non-profit boards, and is a past president of her district’s Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC).
She is an elected school board member for the metropolitan school district of Warren Township, currently serving her third term. She holds degrees in history and mathematics. Advocacy is Burke’s passion, having spent over a decade testifying and advocating for children, youth, public education and public health issues. She is a proud recipient of the Indiana PTA Beverly Zawadski Advocacy Award and the National PTA Shirley Igo Advocate of the Year Award.
She lives in Indianapolis, Ind., with her husband of over 20 years, their three children, and a menagerie of cats, dogs, hedgehogs and a fish.
