Kris Garst currently serves on the National PTA Board of Directors. She is also vice president for legislation, newsletter chair, and spelling bee chair for the European PTA Board. Gart is a past president of European PTA and Grafenwoehr Elementary School PTA, which was the first National PTA School of Excellence in Europe and recipient of the 2016 Phoebe Apperson Hearst Outstanding Family-School Partnerships Award.
Garst has served as the chairperson of Grafenwoehr Elementary School Advisory Committee, been the school’s representative on U.S. Army Garrisons (USAG) Bavaria’s Installation Advisory Committee, volunteered for her children’s schools and the Bavaria Community and Spouses Club, and been a member of the USAG Bavaria Wellness Working Group.
Over the past 25 years, Garst has worked in management, marketing, event coordination, sales—as well as community relations for companies like Borders Books & Music, Build-A-Bear Workshop and Barnes & Noble Booksellers.
Garst was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and has lived in eight states. She currently resides in Grafenwöhr, Germany with her husband, Mike and three school-aged sons, Riley, Nathan and Tyler.
