Gerrod Tyler is an accomplished nonprofit leader, education advocate and contract administration specialist. With a career that spans both public service and grassroots organizing, Tyler has consistently worked to uplift communities through civic engagement, education reform and family empowerment. He currently serves on the National PTA Board of Directors and as past president of Free State PTA. His leadership journey within PTA began at the local level, serving as PTA president and legislative advocate at Maya Angelou French Immersion PTSA, before rising to state-level positions.
Professionally, Tyler works as a Senior Contract Administration Specialist at the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC). In addition to his work in the education and technology sectors, he has served as a volunteer teacher at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ and as a mentor to at-risk youth for over two decades. His commitment to youth development and family engagement is also reflected in his work with the Freeman Empowerment Group and his longstanding involvement with PTAs at schools across the state of Maryland along with other community-based organizations.
Tyler is also deeply involved in shaping education policy in Maryland and has earned multiple honors, including the Maya Angelou PTSA President’s Award and Prince George’s County Public Schools’ Father of the Year. He lives in Maryland with his wife and their daughter.
