Bonnie Cannon serves as National PTA's Vice President of Membership. A former broadcast meteorologist, anchor and medical reporter, Cannon brings more than three decades of communications expertise and nearly 40 years of PTA involvement to the role.
Cannon has served PTA at every level, most notably as Minnesota PTA President (2010–2013) and National PTA Board of Directors member (2014–2018). She has volunteered with PTAs across five states—Georgia, Alabama, Virginia, Minnesota and Missouri—and is a National TCBI Trainer. Among her signature contributions are the creation of Car Care 101 and Shifting the Paradigm, a sexual assault awareness workshop developed for PTA communities.
Her approach to membership is rooted in a simple conviction: retention comes before growth. Cannon is focused on ensuring members at every level see the full value of their PTA investment—and that state membership leads feel supported, celebrated and equipped to succeed.
Cannon is a recipient of the 2018 National PTA Lifetime Achievement Award. She lives in Fayetteville, Ga., with her husband of nearly 40 years. They have four adult children and six grandchildren.
