Denise Sultz was elected as National PTA Secretary-Treasurer at the July 2017 Convention. She previously served on the NPTA Board of Directors under Past Presidents Chuck Saylors, Betsy Landers, and Otha Thornton and is looking forward to continuing her service to National PTA. She has served as a NPTA Field Service Committee member and a Team Lead and Parent Educator on the CCSI Grant Committee. Denise is the current Membership Chair of Kansas PTA. She is the Immediate Past President for KPTA and served as their President Elect, Vice President of Extension Services, and Vice President of Member Services. Denise has also served as the chair of the Kansas PTA Nominating and Leadership Development Committee, the Audit Committee, the Health and Wellness Committee, and twice as Convention Chair.
Denise is Co-President of Shawnee Mission Area Council in the Shawnee Mission School District. She has done extensive work at council and local levels ranging from Chair of her Council's School of Instruction (yearly officer training) through President, Vice-President and Treasurer of her local units. Her favorite memory is when the PTA President of her oldest child’s middle school came to her house to ask her to be involved. That ask was all it took.
Outside of PTA, Sultz was an ambassador and participant in the Kansas City Corporate Challenge, which is one of the largest city-wide corporate athletic competitions. She also enjoys playing bells in a church's handbell choir and can often be found with a Sudoku puzzle open on her phone.
Sultz has a bachelor's degree in Management and Human Relations and an associate's degree in Business. She uses those each day in her day job as a Staff Accountant. She and her husband David are parents to Keri (Jeff), Lori, and Rob. They have also rescued three furry friends into their family: Mollie the dog and her cat sisters Twist and Callie.
