The Center for Family Engagement represents National PTA in coalitions and forums where we influence others to value families as their children’s first and most important teachers and advocates.
We are members of the Technical Working Group for the Statewide Family Engagement Centers, the National Family Engagement Alliance, and collaborate with many other organizations in less formal capacities.
If your organization is interested in partnering with the Center for Family Engagement, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A Discussion Guide to Meaningfully Engage Parents and Teachers During Times of Crisis
A Joint Project by the American Federation of Teachers & the National Parent Teacher Association
The recent crisis, caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, has revealed that we need to be better at effectively and meaningfully engaging key stakeholders, such as teachers and parents. AFT and PTA partnered to conduct focus groups with parents and teachers to find out how they preferred to be engaged during times of crisis. This discussion guide provides parent and teacher leaders, school principals, district administrators and community partner groups with a synopsis of our process, findings, and additional guidance to improve family and teacher engagement in times of crisis in your respective communities.
