Robert Acerra was appointed by National PTA® President Betsy Landers to serve as one of the two youth members on the 2011–2013 National PTA Board of Directors and as chairman of the National PTA Youth Involvement Committee. He previously served a two-year term on the youth involvement committee. Acerra is a college student majoring in social work and minoring in information technology.
Acerra also serves on the New Jersey PTA Board of Directors since his election to the board as a student representative in 2007. He has served three years as a student representative, one year as the magazine editor, and is currently serving as the state PTA® secretary. He has also served on many committees including the convention, nominating, committee on committee chairmanships, education, and executive committees. His PTA career began at a young age assisting at elementary and middle school PTA events. He joined the Ocean Township PTSA in high school where he was a grade level representative and served on various committees.
Along with his PTA work, Acerra likes to remain busy in various other organizations including serving as an international representative on the Circle K International Board and as the chief justice in the Monmouth University Student Government Association. He is excited to have the opportunity to serve as the voice of the youth members on the National PTA Board of Directors and to be able to work with an amazing leadership team and board under the leadership of National PTA President Landers.
