Since Target, a Proud National Sponsor of PTA, opened its doors in 1962, it has given back 5 percent of its income to local communities. This year, Target will give back more than $3 million every week to schools and nonprofit organizations. Target’s programs are national in scope, with local impact across all their focus areas, in arts, education, safe families and communities, and volunteerism.
Target has created signature education programs to support schools, teachers, children, and parents in its communities. Take Charge of Education is a school fundraising initiative that offers families, teachers and community members an easy way to designate an eligible K-12 school of their choice nationwide and have Target donate an amount equal to one percent of their Target Visa and Target Credit Card purchases made at Target and Target.com. Since the program's inception in 1997, Target has given more than $200 million to schools nationwide.
Our Reading Grants award funds to schools, libraries and nonprofit organizations that encourage families to read together. We particularly focus on programs that inspire the youngest readers — birth to third grade.
Target Field Trip Grants Program was designed to help teachers bring learning to life for students and enhance classroom studies. In 2007, $1.6 million in funding will be available to educators through the grants.
