2015 National PTA Legislative Conference to be held March 11-12

Roberto J. Rodríguez, Deputy Assistant to the President for Education, to speak to attendees about the important role families play in supporting student success

WHAT

National PTA will bring together parent leaders from across the country March 11 and 12 in Arlington, Va. for its 2015 Legislative Conference as part of its ongoing commitment to be a powerful voice for all children. Parents will get an in-depth look at National PTA’s 2015 public policy priorities and actively advocate for the education, health and welfare of every child.

Roberto J. Rodríguez will keynote the event and speak to attendees about the important role families play in supporting student success and school improvement efforts. Rodríguez serves in the White House Domestic Policy Council as Deputy Assistant to the President for Education and coordinates the Administration's education policy initiatives from early learning through college and career training.

In addition to hearing from Rodríguez, attendees will participate in interactive workshops and skill-building trainings on a variety of topics, including ESEA/NCLB reauthorization, family engagement, student data privacy, juvenile justice and delinquency prevention, early childhood education, school safety and school nutrition. They also will bring their voices to Capitol Hill and meet with Congressional leaders to discuss key issues impacting the nation’s children.

During the conference, National PTA will recognize Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) and Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) with its 2015 Congressional Voice for Children Award. The association also will honor the recipients of its 2015 Outstanding Advocacy Awards.

National PTA is oldest and largest volunteer child advocacy association in the nation. Throughout its history, National PTA has called for legislation in areas including early childhood education, health and wellness, school safety, juvenile justice and arts in education. As has been a priority for more than one hundred years, National PTA will continue to work at every level to speak up, take action and make a difference for the lives and futures of all children.
