National PTA Announces New Board Members

ALEXANDRIA, VA. (July 23, 2012)—National PTA® recently announced eight new elected and three appointed board members at the 116th Annual National PTA Convention and Exhibition in San Jose in June. National PTA’s Board of Directors is comprised of 28 parents, education professionals, and community and business leaders from across the country.

National PTA Board members serve two-year terms and are either elected member representatives by convention delegates or are appointed by the national president as at-large members. Board member positions are unpaid, volunteer roles. The new board members are:

  • Derrick Byrd
  • Leslie Cushman
  • Sharon Goldblatt
  • Philip Horn (at-large)
  • Marques A. Ivey
  • Dee Jones
  • Susan Lipman
  • Melissa S. Nehrbass
  • Dr. Darline P. Robles (at-large)
  • Eric Snow (at-large)
  • Denise Sultz

The national board works in concert with the national staff to continue long-term strategies and priorities that benefit families nation-wide. The board and executive director also ensure the execution of the association’s strategic plan to speak for every child with one voice.
