St. Louis Site of 1st National Parent Expo, 3rd Annual National Walk for Healthy Kids, June 30

WHAT:
It’s going to be a Saturday of calling attention to children’s health and wellness, learning the latest parenting tips, and having fun with the whole family.

St. Louis families and parents are invited to get the hottest parenting advice on topics like healthy eating, saving for college, and being a better parent at the first-ever national Parent Expo. The event will feature almost 200 exhibitors with valuable resources and tools for parents, as well as fun games for kids and families. The first 2,000 attendees will receive a complimentary gift pack filled with fun items for parents and kids. Admission is free to the public.

Families are also encouraged to join hundreds of Parent Teacher Association (PTA) members and other child advocates from across the country to keep children healthy and participate in the 3rd Annual PTA National Walk for Healthy Kids in Downtown St. Louis.

WHEN:
On June 30, the Parent Expo is open to everyone for no charge between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. The 5K walk begins at 6:30 a.m. and is part of the PTA National Convention & Exhibition (June 29 – July 1). NOTE: There is a $25 registration fee to participate in the walk.

WHERE:
The Parent Expo will take place at America’s Center downtown. The Gateway Arch Grounds will serve as the start and finish for the 3rd Annual Walk for Healthy Kids. Participants will catch glimpses of the Mighty Mississippi, Gateway Arch, Eads Bridge and the paddlewheel boats that call the Mississippi River home.

WHY:
The walk is an effort to keep children healthy; serve as a way for parents to be role models for children; and highlight the issue of healthy lifestyles at home and school.
