On October 2, 2007 PTA honored the GE Foundation for its outstanding dedication and service to children during the Third Annual Commitment to America’s Children Award Gala Dinner. The event brought together numerous education partners of PTA with corporate and business leaders, and PTA officers and executives to show their support of this prestigious award.
Highlighting the evening, Robert Corcoran, Vice President of Corporate Citizenship for the General Electric Company and President of the GE Foundation, spoke reverently about the importance of supporting education in disadvantaged communities; the need for American schools to do a better job of challenging students to take rigorous courses and career paths; and encouraged parents to become more involved in PTA and their children’s education.
