Emerging Minority Leaders Conference.
Building on a foundation of knowledge.
The landscape of our public schools has changed. According to a recent congressionally mandated report, The Condition of Education, minority students make up 42 percent of our nation's public school enrollment, up from 22 percent three decades ago.
The Emerging Minority Leaders Conference, now in its second year, is designed to respond to this growing diversity in our public schools and communities, and to help PTA serve all children and families. Participants in this year's conference will strengthen their leadership skills and engage in significant networking opportunities.
Please assist us in identifying emerging minority leaders: Pass this information on to potential conference attendees. If you are an ethnic minority, look inside to learn more about the scheduled activities for the 2007 conference. Both new and returning attendees will benefit from this opportunity to build on a foundation of knowledge. Through the Emerging Minority Leaders Conference, we can develop PTA's leadership and move closer to fulfilling our vision of making every child's potential a reality.
2007 Emerging Minority Leaders Conference - October 19-21, in Dallas, Texas
The Emerging Minority Leaders Conference was created to recognize and reinforce the importance of ethnic minority leaders in PTA's future growth.
This conference is for you if you:

“Thank you for hearing us! You have empowered us to passionately pursue themission of PTA and bring it to our minority brothers and sisters.” -A 2006 Emerging Minority Leaders Conference participant |
- Are an ethnic minority,
- Are interested in growing as a PTA leader, and
- Want an opportunity to share experiences with fellow emerging minority PTA leaders.
Registration is open to all local, council, district, region, and state leaders. The registration fee of $200 covers conference materials as well as meals on Friday evening, Saturday morning and afternoon, and Sunday morning.
The PTA national office will reimburse each state for the cost of registration, airfare, hotel, and per diem for two members to attend the conference. One of these leaders can be a returning attendee, while the other should be a new emerging leader; both can be new emerging leaders. States are encouraged to select attendees from all levels of the organization.
