Add to My ArticlesPTA Teacher Appreciation Week, May 4-10, 2008

In 1984, PTA established Teacher Appreciation Week—the first full week in May—to honor the dedicated men and women who lend their passion and skills to educating our children.

Semana de Reconocimiento a los Maestros (Teacher Appreciation Week) de PTA, del 4 al 10 de mayo de 2008

“Teachers can instruct our students in math, science, and language, but more than that, teachers can give our children the will to continue learning for the rest of their lives. The gift of never-ending education is one for which we cannot show enough gratitude—but we can certainly try. The monumental responsibility of teachers should be met with an equally awe-inspiring show of appreciation, and that is why we are creating the Nation’s Largest Teacher Thank-You Card. During PTA Teacher Appreciation Week this May, please join us in recognizing the imperative and inspiring work our teachers do every day. Working together, teachers, parents, and communities can make every child’s potential a reality.”

The Nation’s Largest Teacher Thank-You Card says thanks in a big way.

Launched in May 2007 by the National Education Association and Parent Teacher Association, this one-of-a-kind endeavor is a collection of thousands of cards and messages to teachers from children, parents, grandparents, community members, celebrities, and notable public figures from across the country. It is a public tribute of thanks to teachers nationwide.

The Nation’s Largest Teacher Thank-You Card was created by the National Education Association and Parent Teacher Association in celebration of National Teacher Day and National Teacher Appreciation Week. National Teacher Appreciation Week is celebrated the first full week in May; National Teacher Day is celebrated the Tuesday of that week.
