Local unit presidents and membership chairs can use these resources to enhance membership recruitment and retention efforts at the critical Back-to-School period, as well as year-round. Type in your PTA’s name, events, contact information, accomplishments, or other applicable text and print out the documents.
Join with PTAs everywhere in using our collective strength and name recognition to promote membership during PTA Membership Month (September) and year-round. Most of the membership marketing templates are available either with or without mention of PTA Membership Month. Please use the appropriate selection: those with a mention during September and the evergreen materials at other times.

- Inform PTA members and potential members of special events.
- Emphasize to nonmembers the benefits of joining PTA.
- Position your PTA as part of America's number one parent involvement organization.
- Advertise your PTA in newsletters, magazines, newspapers, or other print materials.
- Energize your membership recruitment campaign.
These materials can be distributed in a number of ways:
- Place the poster and fliers on school and community bulletin boards and windows (with permission).
- Mail the letter and brochure to parents.
- Send fliers home with students.
- Place the advertisements in your local newspaper and your PTA's, school's, and school district's newsletters.
- Hand out brochures and fliers at an information table at PTA and school events.
A membership form and a manual on membership recruitment are also provided. Use these materials whenever they can answer the question “Why should I be a member of your PTA?”

Please note: Most of the documents are provided in portable document format (PDF). You may need to download and install the latest version of Adobe Reader to view and print these documents. Adobe Reader is free software available from Adobe. You can view, fill in, and print these template PDF documents with the free version of the software. However, unless you have Adobe Acrobat, you will not be able to save the PDF files with your information filled in. Adobe Reader will not allow you to save your changes.
