Q: What is PTA Take Your Family to School Week?
A: PTA Take Your Family to School Week is an opportunity to connect family members to their children's school experiences.

Q: Why is it celebrated on February 10–16 in 2008?
A: PTA Take Your Family to School Week is scheduled to lead up to PTA Founders Day (PTA was founded February 17, 1897), as it continues our founders' vision of building lasting family-school partnerships. All families are invited to participate in the week's activities, and your PTA can use the week to give new life to outreach efforts begun in the fall.

Q: Who will coordinate the week?
A: PTA units can coordinate activities and events for this week in collaboration with the school principal, teachers, and staff. All family members are welcome and encouraged to participate.

Q: What kind of national support has PTA Take Your Family to School Week received?
A: In its first two years, PTA Take Your Family to School Week received statements of support from U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings, the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP), the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), the National School Boards Association (NSBA), and Scholastic. PTA will invite administrators, corporations, and decision makers to support the effort again in the coming year.

Q: Why should our PTA run PTA Take Your Family to School Week in 2008?
A: The week presents your school community with an opportunity to reach more families. Research shows that when parents and families are involved, students achieve. The planning booklet provides event ideas as well as tips on building family-school partnerships. Plus, your PTA could be awarded $1,897 for your plans!
