Invest in PTA's Mission

As the largest volunteer child advocacy association, National PTA has been the conscience of the nation to better the lives of all children in America for over 127 years. That’s the power of PTA driving our mission.

As proud as we are of our extensive legacy and impact, there’s still so much work to be done.

To ensure we have the resources to support our mission, the National PTA Board of Directors is proposing a $1.00 dues increase to be debated and voted on by members of the voting body during our virtual Convention in June 2024.

Your Membership Dues Help PTAs Succeed

Why the proposed dues increase?

  • PTA dues are some of the very lowest in comparison to other national associations.
  • The last dues adjustment was 13 years ago, a $0.50 cent increase.
  • The current $2.25 dues rate is now valued at $1.64 in today's market, which is a 27% decrease since 2011.

What services do our current dues cover?

Every cent of the $2.25 in membership dues that is sent to National PTA covers the cost of many fundamental services supporting PTAs across the country, including:

  • Providing parent voice to the White House, Administration and Congress
  • Coordinating federal policy and legislative advocacy
  • Developing programmatic resources to address families’ needs
  • Training and developing resources for all volunteer leaders
  • Securing millions of dollars in grants to local unit, district and state PTAs
  • Providing PTA signature opportunities like Reflections and Schools of Excellence
  • Facilitating national events like LegCon and Annual Convention
  • Promoting and defending the PTA brand

What Will the Proposed Dues Increase Do for PTAs

This proposed dues rate increase will provide for:

  • Increased training and leadership development for all PTA leaders
  • Expanding the powerful impact of our PTA programs and services for families
  • Increased in-person meetings and National Representative travel to state conventions
  • Revitalizing the PTA brand

All PTAs can agree that ...

We need to ensure that EVERY child has access to a quality, equitable education in a safe and welcoming environment that helps them grow to their full potential.

We need PTA leaders who are adequately trained so they can confidently run their PTAs and engage with their families and school officials to create a community that elevates learning and enhances partnerships that support every child’s success.

We need a revitalized and unified voice, boldly urging our decisionmakers from the school house to Capitol Hill that they must take action on the critical issues facing our children, families and schools.

National PTA

It's time to expand the resources and opportunities for our children. They are depending on us to keep the foundation and framework of this association strong for them today, so they can lead us tomorrow.
