Welcome!

It's been a long time coming, but now that the official PTA blog is here, I can say a lot of people are excited about its potential. We can't wait to hear from PTA supporters from all over the country - and the world. We're also pleased to be kicking off this project at such a momentous time in our nation's history. PTA leadership and staff will be in the capital next week, and in the days to come, we'll be posting updates here from the Presidential Inauguration, but you can start participating today through www.pta.org/inaug09. We're excited about the Obama administration's promise to focus on education while in office - and that will certainly be a topic covered here well after the inaugural banners and bleachers are taken down from Pennsylvania Ave. What else we cover can largely be determined by you - so let us know about your experiences, what you hope our newly-elected officials will do on behalf of America's children, and what you'd like to see PTA do. We're anxiously awaiting your comments.

Next stop: Washington DC.

(Editor's note: For information on the inauguration, try these links: Library of Congress; Washington Post; CNN.com)

I do hope our PTA representatives will be warm these next few days-it will be a toasty 40 degrees on Sunday. In any event, am looking forward to PTA getting back into the advocacy efforts again - these are exciting times!

Thank you for all you do for PTA

I can't speak for everyone from PTA about keeping warm in DC the other day - it was bitterly cold on the National Mall, even despite the abundance of energy and excitement. But I can say on behalf of all my colleagues that we, too, are terribly excited about a renewed advocacy push, but we'll need everyone's help to make these efforts successful!
