Resolution - STRENGTHENING SUPPORT OF PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS
Whereas, The existence of a strong, effective system of free public education for all children is essential to our democratic system of government; and
Whereas, A commitment to quality education requires involvement with and support of educators, parents, students, and the general public; and
Whereas, Educators should be accorded high public esteem, reflecting the value that the community places on public education; now therefore be it
Resolved, That the National PTA increase its commitment to, involvement in, and support of public education; and be it further
Resolved, That PTAs/PTSAs become increasingly involved in activities that strengthen respect and support for the teaching profession; and be it further
Resolved, That PTAs/PTSAs continue to support efforts to upgrade the quality of public school teachers, thereby improving the image and stature of the profession; and be it further
Resolved, That PTAs/PTSAs encourage appropriate funding authorities to establish salaries commensurate with the professional preparation and dedication necessary for effective teaching.
