Kim Norton was elected in June 2005 to serve a two-year term as a member representative on the PTA National Board of Directors. She serves as board liaison on the national convention-awards special committee and is a Building Successful Partnerships presenter and Taking Charge of Your TV trainer for the national PTA organization.
Norton brings to the PTA National Board of Directors 20 years of PTA experience. She is a past president of Minnesota PTA. Her other leadership positions with Minnesota PTA include National Council of States member, region director, cultural arts chair, and area council PTA president. She has also sat on PTA committees on field service, membership, and urban initiatives. Norton has represented PTA on various outside committees as well, including the League of Women Voters K-12 Education Forum panel, the Minnesota Department of Health Action for Healthy Kids State Steering Committee, and the Olmstead County Public Health Community Advisory Committee. She has also served as Prejudice Reduction workshop chair on the Diversity Council Education Committee. Norton has received the Colorado PTA and Minnesota PTA lifetime achievement awards.
Norton and her husband have four children.
