Aurelio Montemayor was appointed to the PTA National Board of Directors in June 2006 to serve a two-year term. He currently serves as a member of the finance committee.

Montemayor has been a strong advocate for public schools for more than 40 years. Montemayor has directed the Texas Intercultural Development Research Association Parent Information Resource Center, led the Parent Leadership Model, and developed and conducted bilingual workshops and events.
