Wayne Bauman has been a PTA member nearly 30 years. Bauman was elected in June 2007 to serve a two-year term as Member Representative on the National PTA Board of Directors and serves on the Field Service Committee. He previously chaired the Nominating and Leadership Development Committee and serves as a National PTA Mentor and Trainer.

Bauman was state president (1999-2001) and served in numerous leadership roles including vice president of leadership, legislation and education for Iowa PTA. In addition to the officer positions with the state PTA, he served on the local and council PTAs in various positions.

He is a trained mediator and his expertise includes budgets, business procedures, nonprofit board operations, and problem solving. Bauman has been a teacher and counselor and currently works as a UniServ Director for the Iowa State Education Association.  Wayne serves as a volunteer trainer for the National Education Association.  He currently is serving as President of the Des Moines Choral Society and is a member of the Iowa Math and Science Coalition Governing Board. 

Bauman is married with two children.
