Captain D’Angelo Loyd is a native of Columbus, Ohio. He is a graduate from United States Army Officer Candidate School. Prior to attending Officer Candidate School he served as staff sergeant in the Military Intelligence and Engineer Corps. D’Angelo has been serving in the active military for 16 years, since he was 17 years old.
He received his commission as an Engineer Officer prior to being selected as Public Affairs Officer, to fulfill his passion of writing, outreach, marketing and working with children.
Prior to his military service, D’Angelo worked for the Columbus Zoo, WBNS 10TV (Kids news Network Reporter), and volunteered for his local PTA; starting at the age of 11 at Grant Hospital in Columbus. For his service to the hospital D’Angelo was awarded The Jambrose Towers Award for community service. He is also a recipient of the National PTA Lifetime Achievement Award.
While serving on active duty, he earned Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and Master of Education in Leadership/Instructional Technology; he is currently pursuing Doctorate in Public Administration (dissertation phase with anticipated completion of September 2014), respectively.
CPT Loyd’s military education includes the Combat Engineer Course, Warrior Leader Course, Intelligence Analyst Course, All Source Analysis Military Intelligence Course, Engineer Basic Course, Engineer Advanced Course (Top 10%), Public Affairs Officer Course, and Airborne School.
CPT Loyd’s previous assignments include Combat Engineer, 14th Engineer Battalion, Fort Lewis, Washington; Intelligence Analyst, 555th Engineer Group, Fort Lewis, Washington (Operation Iraqi Freedom); Senior Intelligence Analyst, 155th Armor Brigade, Camp Shelby, Mississippi (Operation Iraqi Freedom); Platoon Leader, 19th Engineer Battalion, Fort Knox, Kentucky (Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan); Team Chief, 410th Engineer Battalion, Fort Knox, Kentucky; Commander, Bravo Company, 2/10 Infantry Regiment, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Chief of Marketing, United States Army Cadet Command. Currently, serving as Senior Manager, Leadership and Education Program; United States Army Cadet Command, Fort Knox, Kentucky.
In his past and current role (three years), he works closely managing relationships with; Kiwanis, DECA, NASSP, LULAC, MFA, 100BMOA, BEYA, FFA, FBLA, Steve Harvey Mentoring, and others. Also, he has served as leadership outreach speaker for several organizations above.

Currently, D’Angelo serves on the National PTA Board of Directors and National PTA Military Committee.
D’Angelo is married to McKenzie, who is a licensed clinical social worker, and they have two children, Camille and D'Angelo III.
