Wayne Bauman has been involved in the field of education for quite some time. He currently serves as the National PTA Leadership Coach alongside being a consultant to the Iowa and Nevada PTAs, Secretary/Treasurer of the National PTA State Presidents’ Club and a member of the Our Home-Our Legacy-Our Future subcommittee. He previously worked in roles such as President of the Iowa PTA, member of the National PTA Board of Directors and elected representative from the State Presidents’ Conference of National PTA Executive Committee, among numerous other things.
Bauman is also very active in his community. He has spent time as the treasurer of the Des Moines Gifted and Talented Association and president of the Des Moines Choral Society where he is now a board member and immediate past president. He is a cantor at church, trained mediator and an auditor for several local PTAs.
Along with all of these positions of the past and present came quite a few awards and honors such as the Life Achievement Award and Honorary Life Membership Award, both for the National PTA, Honorary Life Membership awards from three state PTAs; Iowa, Nevada and West Virginia and an award for impressive leadership from the Des Moines Choral Society.
Wayne has been employed by the Iowa State Education Association as a UniServ Director over the past 18 years. He is a trainer and facilitator for the Iowa State Education Association. Bauman has been married to his wife, Dodie Bauman for nearly 40 years and they have two adult children, Justin and Kate.
