National PTA Applauds 2015 National Teacher of the Year 4-29-15
National PTA congratulates Shanna Peeples for her recognition by the Council of Chief State School Officers as the 2015 National Teacher of the Year. Peeples is an English teacher at Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Texas. She was selected to receive the honor from teachers across the country for her dedication to helping every child reach his/her full potential as well as her commitment to mentoring her colleagues to help them grow in the teaching profession.
National PTA Statement on Senate HELP Committee Passage of Every Child Achieves Act 4-17-15
The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee unanimously passed the Every Child Achieves Act on April 16. The bill’s passage by the committee is the first step in the process to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act/No Child Left Behind, the primary law governing the federal role in education.
