The nation’s largest child advocacy association currently has an opening for a Grant Writer. The individual is responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to secure major grant funding ($50,000-$5,000,000+) from corporations, foundations and federal government in support of National PTA, its programs, resources and campaigns. Identifies, researches, and cultivates prospects that best align with the association’s priorities and needs. The grant writer is responsible for submitting Letters of Intents, proposals and online applications on behalf of the association in a timely and consistent manner. Also, provides stewardship to current grant funders, including working with other department staff to provide regular written updates and progress reports. Position requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience. Minimum 3-4 years of grant writing experience is required along with a proven track record of raising money from corporations, foundations and government sources. Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors is needed. Previous experience as a grant writer for a non-profit organization is desirable. Strong written communication skills and the ability to write clear, structured, articulate and persuasive proposals is mandatory. This position requires an outgoing and poised individual that will work with National PTA executive staff, board members and officers, as well as high-level corporate and foundation executives. Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are essential. Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research is essential. Must possess the ability to work independently, effectively manage multiple projects, tasks and deadlines, and be a strong contributor in a team environment.
