2009 Emerging Minority Leaders Conference: About EMLC

2008 EMLC
The Emerging Minority Leaders Conference, now in its fourth year, is designed to prepare ethnic minority parents and caregivers from across the country to assume leadership roles in their local communities and schools. Each year participants gather to network together, while challenging themselves and each other to be critical thinkers, stronger leaders, and better advocates for student achievement.

The 2009 conference will be held in Atlanta, Georgia and promises to bring some of the country’s premier advocates in the fields of education, advocacy, and professional leadership development under one roof.   The workshops will cover the following areas:

  • Strategy action planning,
  • Cultural sensitivity,
  • Raised awareness,
  • Urban community engagement, and
  • Partnership and collaboration building.

PTA is seeking participants to attend this year’s conference. Please pass this information on to potential ethnic minority PTA members/parents/caregivers in your communities and schools. Keep checking this site for more information and updates.

PTA is committed to developing a leadership base that is reflective of the diversity of America’s schools and the Emerging Minority Leaders Conference is but one way to ensure that PTA moves closer to fulfilling our vision of making every child’s potential a reality.
