2009 Presidential Inauguration

January 20, 2009 will be a day to remember as President-elect Barack Obama is sworn in as the 44th President of the United States.  PTA National President Jan Harp Domene and PTA National CEO Byron V. Garrett will be attending the inauguration and related events, as will several staff members from the PTA national office.

Check back at this page often to see what PTA is doing and how you can be part of the festivities through Facebook, Twitter, your own firsthand accounts of this historic occasion, and more.

PTA has always valued its alliance with our nation’s leaders. From its early history where former President Theodore Roosevelt chaired the PTA Advisory Council to PTA's participation in White House conferences on education and youth in the 1950s and 1960s to PTA presenting the President-elect Obama's education transition team with the Public Policy Agenda – PTA has been at the forefront alongside our nation's leaders on behalf of child advocacy and parent involvement.
