Our Children Editorial Calendar 2009–2010
Families preparing for a new school year have a friend in PTA. This special issue of Our Children will provide new and seasoned PTA parents with a comprehensive list of PTA programs, products, and services, complete with descriptions, to help them find exactly what they need when they need it.
Children learn best when parents and schools work together. But parents and schools don't always communicate effectively. Articles in this edition of Our Children will provide parent with guidance on understanding the school environment, how teacher and administrators make decisions, and how parents can advocate for their children in school.
Student academic achievement is the Number One priority for parents with children in school. This issue will look at barriers to achievement, strategies for learning, and innovative programs and tools to help children take their school work to the next level.
Parents are increasingly concerned that their children may be learning or engaging in unethical or even dangerous behaviors, such as cheating and bullying. This issue will offer ideas about teaching ethics and standards to ensure that students gain a moral compass that will lead them through a successful life.
As much learning takes place outside of the classroom as inside it. Parents can do more than help with homework. This issue of Our Children will help parents teach their children everything from biology to math to music, both formally and informally, both in and out of school.
